How do i look after my sterling silver pieces?
Your Sterling Silver pieces should be looked after with a special Sterling Silver cloth.
Never use tissues or paper towels to clean Sterling Silver as they will scratch your item.
Moisture speeds the tarnishing process so make sure your piece is dry before putting it away.
Protect your jewellery from scratches, chemicals and any sharp blows
How do I look after my gold vermeil/gold plated pieces?
All jewellery will of course need looking after but to ensure your gold plated piece stays looking gold for longer please make sure you:
Clean your piece using soapy water and a very soft toothbrush and polish up using a Special gold polishing cloth. Moisture can speed the tarnish process so do make sure its dry before putting it away.
Do not wear your piece in the sea, hot tubs or when bathing as salt water, chlorine and perfumed products including perspiration can take their toll on your piece.
Remove your jewellery when doing household cleaning if using harsh chemical products.
What is Gold Vermeil?
Whilst very similar to gold plating it has some key differences which make it distinctive. Vermeil is a 19th century technique where gold was applied to sterling silver. It is made using the same method as gold plating but requires a much thicker layer of gold and this must be above 2.5 microns.
